Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies including robotics and autonomous vehicles are shaping up to be some of the biggest technological transformations in human history. This talk will cover a brief history of AI so as to better understand the future, and then talk about how AI works: how it feeds on data to become intelligent, what it can and can’t do, and how, why and in what ways it will transform society forever.
Professor Michael Milford is an interdisciplinary researcher at the boundary between robotics, neuroscience and computer vision and a multi-award winning educational entrepreneur. His research models the neural mechanisms in the brain underlying tasks like navigation and perception to develop new technologies in challenging application domains such as all-weather, anytime positioning for autonomous vehicles. He currently hold the position of Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, as well as Australian Research Council Future Fellow, Microsoft Research Faculty Fellow and Chief Investigator at the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision. We are delighted to have him as our keynote speaker presenting the business of AI in a compelling, engaging and understandable presentation.
