Vinomofo is a business not afraid to be itself. The self-proclaimed ‘most epic wine site on the planet’ has developed a brand with loads of personality and a tribe of loyal members, growing rapidly since its humble beginnings in 2011 in an Adelaide garage, to currently reaching $50 million in annual revenue, 500,000 members and a team of 100. It’s branding, marketing and culture is unique and so is its co-founder, joint CEO and our keynote speaker, Justin Dry.
Justin, together with his brother-in-law, André Eikmeier, had previously created a social network for wine nerds. However, without a solid revenue model, it was not sustainable. So the pair pivoted to wine deals, working directly with wine producers and promising to source only wines they would love to drink themselves (they say more than 95% of the wines its buyers taste are rejected) and curate them to the taste of its members. They were onto a winner; Vinomofo now boasts half a million members and has been recognised in a number of award programs, including Telstra Business Awards, Best Places to Work, Online Retail Industry Awards, My Business Awards and Smart Company’s StartupSmart Awards.
Justin is a proven game-changer in the wine industry, taking on retail giants and challenging the ‘Bowties and BS’ attitudes of elitist wine snobs. He is a regular on TV and radio having appeared on Squawk Box – CNBC Asia, Bloomberg Asia, Sky News Business, The Business – ABC, Channel 9 News, Insight – SBS, The Entrepreneurs Show – Sky Business and was one of the stars of the film ‘The New Hustle’ – a feature-length documentary that follows the personal journey of three of Australia’s most successful startups. Personally awarded Spotify Young Entrepreneur of the Year at The Australian Startup Awards, he’s also been named one of the Top 50 People in E-Commerce in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by Internet Retailing.
Having faced several precarious moments in building up Vinomofo, Justin will share how he got through them, ultimately reaching the other side to bring Vinomofo to the success it is today.
This will be a very frank and engaging presentation – book now!
